Everyday utilities for building and debugging on the web: JSON formatting and diffing, regex testing, UUID generation, cron parsing, and format converters.
About Web & Dev
Everyday utilities for building and debugging on the web. Format and validate JSON with the line and column of any syntax error, diff two JSON documents, validate against a JSON Schema, and generate TypeScript types from a sample payload. Convert between YAML, TOML, XML and JSON, and format SQL, XML, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
For the rest of the day's small jobs: test regular expressions with live match highlighting, generate or decode UUIDs (v1, v4, v6 and v7), explain a cron expression and list its next runs, break a URL into its parts, encode HTML entities, work out chmod permissions, convert px to rem, and turn a docker run command into a Compose file. The tools run in your browser, so payloads and tokens you paste stay on your machine.
Questions
Is it safe to paste production JSON into the formatter?
The JSON tools run entirely in your browser and do not send your data anywhere, which you can confirm in your browser's network tab. Still, follow your organization's rules for handling secrets.
Which regex flavor does the regex tester use?
JavaScript's built-in RegExp engine, the same one used by browsers and Node.js, including named groups, lookbehind and the u, s, y and d flags.
Which UUID version should I use?
Use v4 for random identifiers and v7 when you want IDs that sort by creation time, which keeps database indexes compact. The generator also decodes any UUID to show its version and embedded timestamp.
