About Pomodoro Timer

A Pomodoro timer for working in focused blocks with breaks between them. The usual setup, set by default, is 25 minutes of focus, a 5 minute short break, and a 15 minute long break after every fourth focus session. You can change each length and how many focus sessions come before the long break, and choose whether the next phase starts by itself or waits for you to press Start. A sound marks the end of each phase. It is scheduled ahead on the browser's audio clock so it plays on time in a background tab, and the tab title shows the time left and the phase. Skip a phase, pause or reset at any time. A full-screen button makes the clock fill the display for a shared screen. Everything runs in your browser.

When to use Pomodoro Timer

Studying or writing in timed blocks so a long task feels manageable.
Working through a to-do list with regular breaks to stand up and rest your eyes.
Body doubling or a shared focus session on a call, with the clock on a shared screen.
Trying a different rhythm, such as 50 minutes of focus and a 10 minute break, without a new app.

Pomodoro Timer FAQ

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

A time-management method created by Francesco Cirillo. You work on one task for a fixed block, traditionally 25 minutes, then take a short break, and after four blocks take a longer one. The timer here only keeps the time; it does not have to be 25 minutes if another rhythm works for you.

Can I change the lengths?

Yes. Set focus, short break and long break from 1 to 180 minutes, and the number of focus sessions before a long break from 2 to 12. The settings lock while the timer runs. Changing them while it is stopped restarts the current phase at its new length.

What does Start the next phase automatically do?

With it on, when a focus session ends the break starts at once, and when a break ends the next focus session starts. With it off, the timer stops after each phase and waits for you to press Start. The sound plays at the end of each phase either way.

Does skipping count as a finished session?

No. Skip moves to the next phase without counting the focus session you skipped, so the long break still comes after four sessions you completed.

Will it keep time in a background tab?

Yes. The time comes from your device's clock, and the end-of-phase sounds are scheduled ahead on the browser's audio clock, which is not slowed in the background. Keep your volume up. The tab title shows the time left. The timer stops if you close the page or the computer sleeps.

Is my progress saved?

No. Nothing is stored or sent anywhere, so a refresh resets the timer and the count of sessions.
