About Time Calculator
Add and subtract lengths of time. Each row takes days, hours and minutes and is marked as add or subtract, so 2 hours 30 minutes plus 1 hour 45 minutes minus 20 minutes gives 3 hours 55 minutes. The total is shown in words, as hours:minutes (3:55), as decimal hours (3.92) and as total minutes, and every row is listed with its own contribution. Fields can go past their usual range, so 90 minutes or 30 hours is accepted and carried into the larger units. If the subtractions outweigh the additions the total is negative and shown with a minus sign. A day is always 24 hours, so this does not change for daylight saving. Everything runs in your browser.

Time Calculator FAQ
How does it carry minutes into hours?
Everything is converted to whole minutes first, added or subtracted, and then split back into days, hours and minutes. 45 minutes plus 30 minutes is 1 hour 15 minutes, and 23 hours 45 minutes plus 30 minutes is 1 day 15 minutes.
Can the result be negative?
Yes. If you subtract more than you add, the total is shown with a minus sign, for example -1:30 for 1 hour 30 minutes short.
What is the difference between 3:55 and 3.92 hours?
3:55 is 3 hours 55 minutes. 3.92 is the same time written as a decimal number of hours (55 minutes is about 0.92 of an hour), which is rounded to two places and is what many payroll and invoicing systems expect.
Does it work out the time between two clock times?
No. This adds and subtracts durations. To find the time between a start and end time, including overnight shifts and unpaid breaks, use the Hours Worked Calculator. For the gap between two dates, use the Date Difference calculator.
Does daylight saving time affect the total?
No. A day is counted as exactly 24 hours and nothing is adjusted for clock changes, because these are lengths of time and not calendar dates.
