About this tool
Rolls virtual dice for board games and tabletop RPGs. Tap d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 or d100 for a single die, or type dice notation for anything more involved: 3d6, d20+5, 1d8+1d6-2, d% for percentile, 4d6kh3 to roll four d6 and keep the highest three, and 2d20kh1 or 2d20kl1 for advantage and disadvantage. Every die is shown, dice dropped by a keep rule are struck through, and the total comes with its minimum and maximum. Each face is equally likely, drawn from your browser's cryptographic random generator. Up to 100 dice per term, 2 to 1,000 sides, and 10 terms per roll.

Questions
What does 4d6kh3 mean?
Roll four six-sided dice and keep the highest three: the standard way to roll a D&D ability score, where the lowest die is dropped. 'kl' keeps the lowest instead. The dropped dice are shown struck through so you can see what was discarded.
How do I roll with advantage or disadvantage?
Advantage is 2d20kh1 (roll two d20s and keep the higher). Disadvantage is 2d20kl1 (keep the lower). Add your modifier on the end, for example 2d20kh1+5.
Is a virtual die as fair as a real one?
Fairer than most. Each roll is a uniform draw from the browser's cryptographic random generator with rejection sampling, so every face has exactly the same probability. Physical dice are often slightly unbalanced by their pips, rounded edges or air bubbles in the plastic.
What does d% mean?
A percentile roll: a number from 1 to 100, the same as d100. Tabletop systems use it for percentage chances and random tables.
